That all depends on how mobile you want to be. Google 'war driving'. You can war drive with your laptop using a good wireless N card; you will want an 802.11N card with an antenna jack, or possibly use a Hawking Technology HWDN1 usb dish and the software 'Netstumbler'. You can also buy a gps puck for your laptop, and use http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map?form=wifi, and then map it with Google Earth. With this, you can drive around your neighborhood scanning for wireless internet hotspots, map your findings, and see where your mobile internet can be found. BTW, word of warning...do not ask about war driving in the Netstumbler forum. You'll get rude answers to look it up yourself, and they'll tell you they're not into 'spoon-feeding' information to people.

∙ 12y agoThe only way I know to get free internet on a cell phone is by if you have a smartphone, you can get a app that like automatically takes you to facebook and stuff....and I heard it does not cost and it's free even if you do not pay for internet..at least that's what I've heard!
