1) Have a family history of twins
If you, your mother, or your grandmother is a twin or had twins, you may have inherited the hyperovulation gene.
2) Be tall, or gain weight
studies have shown that women above average height have a higher chance of multiples. Also, women with a BMI (Body Mass Index) above 30 are significantly more likely to have twins. However, other studies have already proven that being significantly overweight or underweight reduces the chance of becoming pregnant in the first place.
3) Wait until you are older
women that get pregnant at 45 have a 17% chance of conceiving twins. If you wait until you are 50 the chances sky rocket at a 1 in 9 chance. However, a word of caution: getting pregnant after the age of 35 increases the risk of birth defects such as downs syndrome as well as reducing the likelyhood of pregnancy ocurring (a womans eggs reach their peak at around the age of 30.
4) Already have had twins
Women that have already had a set of twins are significantly more likely to have another set of twins in the future.
5) get more dairy, eat more yams
Studies have shown that the women of Yoruba, a tribe in West Africa, have the highest twinning rates in the world because of the women's diets. The Yoruba tribe's diet includes a lot of Cassava, a type of Yam (or sweet potato). The peelings of this vegetable are thought to cause hyperovulation. Also, a study done in 2006 found that women who consume dairy are five times more likely to conceive twins.
6) conceive while on fertility treatments
It has been shown that Chlomid and IVF treatments drastically increase the rate of twins.
7) Have more kids
It has been shown that more pregnancies means a higher chance of twins.
8) Get pregnant while you are breastfeeding
Women who become pregnant while breastfeeding are nine times more likely to conceive twins than women who are not breastfeeding at the time of conception.
9) Get pregnant on the pill

I have an identical twin. For me it is no more likely that I will have twins than anyone else because identical twins are just flukes. If you are a non- identical twin and that is because your mother had two eggs, then you may have this too, and it is more likely you will have twins.
Most likely but not 100 percent!
