Well, first of all, lip piercings, or any oral piercings, hardly ever get infected.

They'll swell because you just had a dang needle shoved through your lip, and they'll have some white stuff coming out, but they're probably not infected.

But if they're really swollen, take some ibuprofen and ice them.

If the puss coming out is yellow or green or even brown, soak them in a sea salt water mixture for five-ten minutes. But DO NOT take out the jewelry. If you take out the jewelry and they ARE infected, it'll just trap the infection inside your body. So leave the rings/studs in!

Other than that, just be very gentle with your mouth. It's going to be sore for a few days. Don't touch them unless you're cleaning them, and always wash your hands before and after cleaning.

Hope this helps! (:

Well if you pierced your lip, then you are an expert in body piercing and don't require any assistance from a professional body piercer, or any one else for that matter. Listen if the piercing was done by a professional body piercer that would have been covered in your aftercare instructions. So you got your self into it, figure it out on your own.

Body piercing is a regulated industry, many professional body piercers have spent great amounts of time and money to learn and equip there facilities to provide professional services so people like you have no reason to hurt your self. Besides the swelling, I hope you have considered the possible blood poisoning, secondary infection, lock jaw (Tetanus), HIV, Meningitis, Hepatitis A, B, C and the always dreaded *Staphylococcus (*which is always present in residential bathrooms). The swelling should be the least of your worries, with blood vessels, nerve roots and connective muscles running in the area of the lips, swelling should be an issue for you to consider.

See your doctor, you will need a least a Tetnus booster, maybe he/she will help you out.

How long does it take for the swelling to go down on my spiderbite piercings?

Well your piercer should have told you how long the swelling would take to go down, as well as having provided you with written aftercare instructions. I need to telly you that the piercing you have will reject (you should have been told that as well). Hand web piercings never stay and always reject. There should be no actual swelling, if there is there could be a serious problem with how the piercing was done. Contact your piercer.

How long does it take for the swelling to go down on a dimple piercing?

For the basic oral piercings, ie. lip piercing, monroe, labret etc etc; the swelling begins to go down after a few days. Since the cartilage for a dimple piercing is much thicker than that of a lip piercing, the swelling will take a little bit longer to go down. Usually 3-10 days before the swelling begins to go down, depending on how much you play with the jewelery, irritate the piercing, and even how you clean it can all alter the amount of time your piercing is swollen for!
