Did you replace the fuel filter at the same time you did the fuel pump? If the problem is from the fuel system then try this first; disconnect the boot at the throttle body and spray starter fluid into the manifold for about 3-4 seconds, put the boot back on and try to start it. If it trys to start it is a fuel related issue (do not continue to try and run or start the engine this way it can backfire and cause a fire). If it's a fuel system problem one thing that it may be is that it does not have fuel pressure at the fuel rail. When turning the ignition to the run position (engine off) you should hear a whine at the fuel pump (each time the key is turned off and back to run) for about 2-5 seconds which indicates that the fuel pump is working. If you hear the whine but it still doesn't start, put a fuel pressure gage on the fuel rail and see if the fuel pressure falls within mfg's specs.(about 35-60psi depending on the car)for your vehicle. If you hear the fuel pump whine, the fuel rail has pressure according to the mfg's specs, and the engine trys to start with starter fluid, then the fuel may be contaminated, starting injector (only some cars) may not be working, there may be ignition problems or other none fuel related issues.

my 2001 ford windstar will turn over and make a clanking noise like metal to metal is hitting? Just replaced the starter and had the battery checked what would be the problem?
Yes. The mirror on the 2001 Ford Windstar is the same mirror found on the 1999 Ford Windstar. They are interchangeable.

Probably not, a 2001 Windstar usually has hydraulic lifters that never need adjusting it could be a bad valve spring, or a bad lifter that will need to be replaced.
Actually , the engine on a 2001 Ford Windstar is fuel injected so there is no carburetor
