James Monroe, along with Secretary of State John Quincy Adams, traveled to Europe in the hopes of mending fences with England. He believed that in order to have a good relationship with other countries, the United States had to extend the first hand of friendship.
James Monroe issued the "Monroe Doctrine" in 1823. The Doctrine held that any former colony in the Western Hemisphere that had declared independence and successfully became independant (through either war or treaty) would not be re-colonized by the same or a different European power. Although the young United States was in no position to defend this declaration, the British agreed with the sentiment and argued that their navy, the strongest in the world at the time, would defend the Monroe Doctrine.

The US is involved in Latin America militarily because of the Monroe doctrine.
No. The Monroe Doctrine is the announcement that the US will not tolerate the establishment of new European colonies in the Americas and will take active measures to prevent that.
George Washington recommended staying out of European affairs.
No. It is not possible. Most of the countries in the world work in some way together. There is also importing and exporting now.
The Monroe Doctrine did not change the world. When it was issued in 1823, the United States was not strong enough to enforce it. America's foreign policies with regard to the Western Hemisphere are often cited as having roots in this doctrine. The fact is, as with all nations, its foreign affairs are dictated by what is seen as the best method to protect itself, and its allies. What the Monroe Doctrine did do, however, was to make a bold statement about how America felt about European affairs in the western hemisphere.
The Roosevelt Corollary was an addition to the Monroe Doctrine. It stated that no European countries were allowed to intervene in Latin American affairs. The only way that the U.S was allowed to become involved was if the affairs or European countries was threatened. The United States could exercise police power in Latin America. The United States was the only country allowed to interfere with Latin American countries.
Yes. The president asked his advice and Jefferson told him that the United States should not get involved with European wars or affairs.
The United States became involved European affairs and further European colonization of the Americas was prohibited.
