Nixon opened diplomatic relations with China. He also found a resolution to the Vietnam War that he inhereted from the previous administration. Nixon is also noted for starting a policy of dis-armament with the USSR. He is most remembered for his foreign policy triumphs, where as his domestic policy will allways be tainted by Watergate.

Nixon was the first to use 'law & order' as a way to attract voters. As America's social structure appeared to rip in 1968 following the King and Kennedy assassinations, as well as the police riot at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Nixon used these events to change the traditional Dem-GOP differences to one of 'hippies and revolution vs patriots.'
