It did not hurt people, it did crack down on dissent and anti-war , say people"s Propaganda- say the John Lennon variety during actual all-out Wars. Look up the case of Laura Ingalls (not the Western writer). Miss Ingalls was put on trial for essentially distributing various anti-war pamphlets over Washington, DC and technically violating air-space regulations. Miss Ingalls was tried, convicted, had her pilot"s license unconditionally suspended- and did a couple of years in a woman"s prison. -for activities akin to distributing anti-war literature in a public place. Radio programs might be forced to alter content if they took too much of an anti-war status. For this and other reasons Science Fiction was essentially shut down between l939-l945 on both Radio and Film with very few exceptions- and then they HAD to be politically correct- for example Tarzan fighting Nazis in Africa! I don"t think anybody was executed for anti-war activities but there was a climate that ( Tolerance of that sort of thing was tantamount to treason).
