Draft dodgers used many techniques to avoid going to war. Some of them would leave the country with the intention of returning when the war is over. They would also stand on religion to avoid the draft.

∙ 12y agoSome men evaded the draft during WW1 by moving to Canada or Mexico, physically hurting themselves so that they would be unable to fight and would pass for "disabilities", or bribing the officers or drafting authority. Some people moved to other foreign countries like Spain or Britain..but most moved to Canada. Once u became a citizen of Another Country, you were taken out of the AMERICAN draft..but possibly put into canadian's draft..so either way if you tried to get out of the draft, it was quite hard, but possible.
