∙ 12y agoSome were kidnapped by European slave traders. Some were kidnapped by the king or chief of a neighbouring tribe, then sold to the slave traders. Some were enslaved by their own chief and sold to the traders.
This piece of history is not totally reliable because criminals tend not to keep too many records of what they do.

Some people in West Africa become slaves by either by warring groups during battle, or to be captured during raids on villages. Sometimes on occasions, even family relatives of people who owed money were sold into slavery as payment for debts

one reason was that some become slaves for boerss, and also later some people from English colonies were brought to Africa to fight for the English during the boer war
