The Columbian Exchange brought many staples to Europe that enhanced European food and gave them another bargining chip for trading with Asia. Those staples included tomatoes, sugar and potatoes. Can you imagine Italian food without tomato sauce? French pastries without sugar? An Ireland without potatoes?
