For all intents and purposes, we were all ready at war via military aid to Canada and Britain (and those other nations receiving Lend-Lease supplies).
Strange wording - erode the US - The continuous expanding aggression did not wear down and really affect the USA. The bombing of Pearl Harbor was the motivation for the US leaders to finally get into World War 2. It was not the behavior of fascist governments that caused the US to get into the war.
