If a particular person was thought to be a witch they would be tested by having there legs and arms tied together and then being thrown in a river. If they sunk they would be found innocent, but if they flowted then they would be found guilty and be burned. Either way they probably would've died, because if they sunk they would of drowned.

If you were a witch in 17th century Salem, Massachusetts and were accused of bewitchment or witchcraft, you would be trailed. Before your trial you would [of course] be jailed. Once your trial date arrived, you would be questioned. You had two choices: accuse another of witchcraft, saying that they were bewitching you and causing you pain. Or you could confess or admit you were a witch. If you confessed, you would be hung. If you accused another person, you would be set free, that person would go to jail, and that person would have a trial awaiting them as well.

Because so many people were being accused of witchcraft and being thrown in jail, it was difficult to get a trial date. Although, the Salem witch trials lasted a year, maybe less. Once people realized how unrealistic they were being, they felt silly and restituted the jailed citizens by giving money and setting them free without any charges or penalties.

I hope that this was helpful to you in some way, shape, or form. Bye!

There were many ways tudors used to test if someone was a witch.

One of the most common - and now most famous - was called "Swimming' the witch.

They would tie the accused's feet and hands together and throw the in a river.

If the woman floated, she was considered guilty, and hanged anyway.

If she sank, she was innocent ... but she still died. However, they believed that she went to heaven.

Another method was weighing her against The Bible. If the Bible weighed more than the witch then they claimed she was definately guilty.

That one seems odd to us - we think "of course she's be heavier than the Bible, who isn't?" - but you'd be surprised. In those days, remember, people were very, very skinny and light. Especially the accused "witches", as they were always extremely poor.

I hope I answered your question well enough - sorry there are only two examples!

If I did, please give a trust point, or recommend me, or something ... thanks! :)

How people believed you could find out if someone was a witch?

Generally speaking, someone who believes they are a witch will tell others. Or not. Telling people you are pagan/wiccan/witch is a personal choice. You have the option of not telling anyone, ever. If you want to know if your friend/child/spouse/family member/lover is a witch, ask them and make a point not to flip out if they do decided to tell you. Dont flip out if they dont tell you either.
