As a result of the Soviet Union's victory on the eastern front its borders expanded. In the north it gained ground at the expense of Finland, in the center, at the expense of Poland, and in the south at the expense of Romania. The Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania were incorporated into the USSR. Part of East Prussia was taken along with a slice of Czechoslovakia.
