The Marshall Plan was when the US wanted to supply the Europeans who suffered from WW2 with about 11 billion dollars worth of food and supplies. The Reason why they we wanted to do this was so that the whole world wouldn't become communist. When people are hungry they will do anything in order to get food and supplies so they could start actually listening to the communists, however the US did not want that so we gave them food. Stalin(Leader of Russia) was a communist himself and he was furious when he found this out, he thought that US and the other allies were trying to make problems. Russia decided to take over some countried in Eastern Europe so the Americans wouldn't get food to them. Stalin wanted all of Europe to become communist so he kept as many countried communist that he could get a hold of. The Berlin Road was where the US got food to the Europeans, Stalin took over it and blocked it. The US still didnt want communism and they went from Air. This was called the Berlin Airlift. Where the US didnt use the road, instead they went by planes and they gave food to the Europeans. This led to the Cold War, in other words the conflict between the US and Russia from 1940-1991. Stalin finally realized that the US is somehow going to get food to the Europeans and that the US nor the Russians wanted another war so Stalin decided to open up the road again.
