When God created the earth, He created all things to His liking. He created man in his own image, a woman out of the flesh of the man, and all creeping things and animals of the earth and birds of the sky with their own unique characteristics. He made all animals according to His will. He thought of every color, of every shape, and of every size of all the animals. He designed their make up, their cells, where they would live, what they would eat. When He created tigers, He willed them to have stripes. You may read more about this in the Saint Joseph's Edition Bible, in Genesis.

Tigers have evolved to have these stripes. They get it from the information embedded in their genes. Stripes are tiger's camouflage. Out in the wild, they have to hide in bushes while they slowly make a way to the prey. In the beginning (probably), evolution favoured the tigers who had even faint bit of stripes. They were a little less visible to the prey than their 'monotone' counterparts. That set a chain of events that led to the stripes and skin colour of the tigers today.

I said probably because I know that's how evolution works. I'm not certain enough to assert anything, though.
The story is actually quite sad...

Once there was a farmer and his herd of buffalo. One day when the farmer was tired he stopped to take a rest, as he rested his buffalo were busily eating at the long grass. Suddenly a tiger sprang out of the grass, surprising the buffalo. The tiger said " I have not come as an enemy, instead i have come to have something explained to me." "I have been watching you everyday from the forest and i have seen the strangeness of you common labour with the human man. That man a small vertical being, who has neither strength nor great vision, nor a great sense of smell, has been able to keep you in bond and work you to make his profit. You are stronger than him, yet he riles you what is the source of his magic powers?" The tiger asked

"to tell you the truth, i will never be free for he has a talisman he calls wisdom" The buffalo replied

The tiger then said " if i ask for this wisdom then i could have greater power than the other animals."

The buffalo said" well then why don't you ask the farmer?"

The tiger decided to approach the farmer" Mr. man, i am big, strong and quick. I want to be more than that, I have heard that you have something called wisdom which makes it possible for you to rule over the animals. Can you transfer the wisdom to me?" The tiger asked

The farmer then said " Unfortunately i have left my wisdom at home. I never bring it to the fields. But if you like i will go to get it." The tiger was delighted to hear this and asked if he could accompany the man to his house. The farmer replied no, as the villagers might see him and beat him to death. The farmer then told the tiger to stay here on the fields, but was concerned for his buffalo and told the tiger that he worried that if he went the tiger might eat his buffalo up. The tiger did not know what to say and the farmer said that he would tie him to a tree so his mind would be free of his buffalo. The tiger agreed with him and allowed the farmer to tie him to the tree with ropes.

The farmer came back carrying a great load of dry straw which he placed under the tiger and set it on fire.

"Behold my wisdom!" he cried out to his unfortunate victim. The tiger roared loudly that the nearby trees shook. The tiger pleased to the farmer to untie him, but the farmer would not. Finally the fire burned thought the ropes and the tiger was set free. The tiger ran away to the forest. In time, his wounds healed, but he was never able to rid himself of the long black stripes of the ropes which had seared into his flesh. ^^ its quite sad eh?
Well it all started years ago when Sabre toothed tigers were the kings of cats how ever they had no stripes so they found it difficult to hunt in green grass so they began to get small stripes so they could blend in but then there was the meteor rite which killed dinosaur life then when life came back all the tigers had strips. (also when they came back there was over 8 types of tiger but now due to human hunting there are only 5 types which are Siberian/bangle/Sumatra/south china tiger and the Indochinese tiger.
tigers propably evolved from a group of leopads.if you squeeze the tiger's stripe(Iknow it's impossible but scienists has a special computer ) they would look like leopards spots.

ending;leopards live in Africa and Asia but a group of them evolved tigers. In prehistoric leopards also lived in Europe

  • the tiger got its stripes by its naturally being born with them!

Genetic variation throughout time. Animals have had to adapt and stripes are a part of tigers adaptation to their environment. This genetic alter allows them to blend in with their environment to hunt prey easier. This adaptation occurred over millions of years of evolution. The tiger's stripes are its camouflage, an adaptation in most animals which serves to protect them.
