Clean off grass/debris from under the mower....look toward the "round" center part of the mower and you will find a "rectangular recess" that will accomodate a standard 3/8" drive from a socket set....ie the drive shaft only with nothing attached....the drain plug itself is like a threaded socket....it unthreads in the usual counter-clockwise way. Hope this helps.....It is helpful to put the mower on the edge of a deck or stairs, etc., to get it up in the air and put a drain pan underneath...unscrew the oil cap obviously...a small container of fresh oil will do....SAE 30...18 oz. is enough.
