Timing on a 1987 thru 1990 Chevy Celebrity 2.8/3.1 engine is controlled by the ignition control module along with the engine control module. There is no provision or specification for manually adjusting the timing on these distributor-less models.

it's underneath the rotor in the distributor. you have to take the distributor out to change it.

It is not adjustable, sealed from the factory. DO NOT FULL WITH ITThere is no conventional idle adjustment for the TBI motors, but if your willing you can advance or retard the timing by rotating the distributor housing a couple of degrease, but not to much. This will raise or lower your RPM a bit.

inside the distributor cap. there should be 2 sets of plugs that go to your distributor, those plugs go directly into ur ignitions module

timing the engine is done thru the ecu but u could unbolt ur distributor and rotate it to adjust your timing. but be careful. dont advance to much more otherwise u will have knocking problems

18436572 0 degrees BTDC The base timing must be set to 0 degrees with the timing connector conduit disconnected to bypass automatic timing. With timing set to 0 degrees, reconnect the conduit and the computer controles the timing. This conduit is located on the wiring harness on the right side of the firewall, under a Y shaped plastic cover. It is a one wire connection that protrudes from the wiring harness. It is a tan/black stripe wire.
