Well, to begin with, the first thing a new born baby hears in it's life is part of the Qur'an. During the birth, a family member will recite the selected part over and over again. Muslim children have to memorise certain parts of the Qur'an as it is recited 5 times a day, some Muslims even learn Arabic! Someone who has memorised the whole Qur'an is known as a Hafiz Most Qur'ans are hand written entirely in caligraphy and decorated with colourful mosaic/geometric designs The Qur'an is never set on the floor. When not in use, it is wrapped in silk and place on top of the highest peice of funiature in the room, above all other books so as to be closer to Allah Before the Qur'an is read, the reader must wash him/herself on the hands, feet face, mouth and hair If the Qur'an has been written on a blackboard or slate it must be cleaned off with water once it is done with. Avoid putting the water where there are unclean substances or where people walk
The Qu'ran is the Islamic holy book, just as The Bible is to Christians. The Bible is the guideline to Christianity as the Qu'ran is to Muslims. That is why it is respected by all Muslims around the world. Interesting to note- The Qu'ran is also very similar to the Old Testament in the Bible. Judaism, Christianity and Islam are similar in many ways. Research it.
