They have an official church structure that differs from other Christian religions. The Pope is the head, elected by a layer of Cardinals, who are elected by layers of Bishops and Archbishops, who are elected by priests, who are elected by parishes. Roman Catholic priests are allegedly celibate men. The Roman Catholic Church opposes most forms of Birth Control, and divorce.

The Roman Catholic church also differs significantly in the importance they place in traditions of the church over against scripture. They give the former almost equal or in some cases greater importance, as they hold that they are the determiners of what is scripture and also its only rightful interpreters.

Most other churches do not so elevate the traditions of men which they see as fallible over against the infallible word of God as the norm for all Christian life and teaching.

What do christians eat on Friday?

For centuries, Catholics abstained from eating meat on Friday, as a form of penance. It became the custom to only eat fish. These days, while some traditional Catholics do still follow this custom, it is generally incorporated into part of the Lenten observance, and it also remains popular with older Catholics. But many non-religious Catholics no longer observe this custom as much. Eastern Rite Christians (Greek and Syrian Orthodox, for example) also follow the custom of not eating meat on Friday, and many substitute fish. As for other Christians, many Southern Baptists abstain from meat during Lent, and specifically on Good Friday. Other more moderate denominations such as Unitarians or Congregationalists seem to eat whatever they would normally eat on Fridays. In other words, there is no longer one official set of dietary rules that applies to every denomination.

Is there anything against a Christian and a Catholic dating?

Is there anything against a Christian and a human being dating? Christians are human beings! And Catholics are Christians. Here are the four main branches of Christianity: * Orthodox (Greek Orthodox; Russian Orthodox, etc) * Catholic * Protestant * Non-denominational Christians The Catholic Church has traditionally encouraged its members to marry other Catholics; for this reason the Church encourages limiting steady dating to other Catholics. However, in practice Catholics in good standing frequently date and marry non-Catholics.
