Some transfer cases have a hose that connects to the t-case on one end. The other end hangs free or is held by clips to the frame or axle but is not connected to anything. It is left open to vent the gas build-up in the t-case.

If you have a sound cable, you can. Plug one end into the DSi headphone jack, and one end into your computer's microphone jack, then hit Record. You can then transfer the sound to an SD card, if you want.
