the sun is not in the center of earth's orbit because the sun's magnetic field changes from place to place and so earth orbits the sun at different orbital shape mostly oval so sometimes the sun is closer and sometimes it is a bit farer.

Where in the galaxy is the sun located and how long does it take the sun to orbit its galaxy?

The Sun - and the Solar System - are about 26,000 light-years from the Milky Way's center. It takes an estimated 225 million years to go once around the galaxy.

Does the supermassive blackhole at the center of your galaxy contain most of the mass of the galaxy?

No. The super massive black hole at the center of the galaxy has about 4 million times the mass of the sun while the galaxy as a whole has at leas 1 trillion solar masses. In other words the black hole at the center of the galaxy accounts for about one twenty-fifth of one percent of the galaxy's mass.

What are two nonmoving objects that are useful reference points?

the sun and the center of our galaxy, even the center of the known universe if it can be pinpointed

How many light years is the sun from the Galaxy center?

Somewhere around 26,000 light-years.

Is hour world going to the center of the galaxy or what is the same black hole?

We (our Solar System) are going around the center of the galaxy; we are in orbit around the galaxy. This is not much different from the Earth going in an orbit around the Sun. The black hole at the center doesn't change anything; it is just one object more that has some mass - an insignificant amount of mass, compared to the remainder of the galaxy. We (our Solar System) are going around the center of the galaxy; we are in orbit around the galaxy. What's a sun? Joking, No the sun isn't in the middle its inside Saturn.

What is the sun's motion?

The Sun is part of the Milky Way galaxy, and orbits the center of the galaxy in about 220 million years.

What do the Sun and planets spin around?

The center of the galaxy.

Is the sun in the center of the galaxy?

No. The sun is in the centre of our solar system. In the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way, there is probably a black hole.

Does the sun orbit something?

Yes, the sun is orbiting the center of the galaxy. what? that's a load of rubbish, it IS the center of the galaxy. the MILKY WAY galaxy, that's why there IS a galaxy, because its gravitational pull pulled planets into orbit, thus CREATING one!

How does the sun and earth move?

They move because they are both gravitationally bound. The Sun is bound to the Milky Way Galaxy and the Earth is bound to the Sun. Another way to put it is that they revolve around each others common center of gravity. What this mean is that, in the case of the Earth, it is falling toward the Sun's center of gravity but for every foot the Earth moves toward the Sun's center, the Sun moves a foot out of the way. The Sun is moving because it is falling toward the center of our galaxy. Again, it would make it to the center of our galaxy but for one reason. Our galaxy is moving toward the center of the Virgo Super Cluster.

In which galaxy does the sun exist?

Our sun "The Sun" exists in a galaxy called "the milky way", all other galaxy's that we know of also have suns.

What do we orbit?

We orbit the sun, which in turn orbits the center of the galaxy.

What do orbiters do?

We orbit the sun, which in turn orbits the center of the galaxy.

What does the sun travel around?

Our Sun orbits around the center of our galaxy -- the Milky Way

Is sun fixed star?

no, it revolves around the Center of the MilkyWay Galaxy...

What is orbit of the sun?

The sun is in an enormous orbit around the center of the Milky Way galaxy. It is estimated that it takes between 225 and 250 million years for the sun to make one orbit, called a galactic year. We are traveling around the center of the galaxy at a rate of about 220 km/second, which is .073% of the speed of light.
