Yes it's true : I was looking at the Gates website ( they make timing belts etcetera ) and it shows the recommended timing belt replacement interval for the 2.3 and 2.4 litre five cylinder engines in a 1999 Volvo S-70 as ( 105,000 miles ) It also shows that both engines are ( INTERFERENCE ENGINES ) so if the timing belt breaks engine damage can occur
