Refrigerant is added through the low side service port. That is the smaller of the two fittings on the ac lines.
You put it in on the low side in the line about center of the engine.
it contains no Freon. It contains R134a refrigerant. If it need refrigerant that means you have a leak. It is illegal to add refrigerant without first repairing the leak. Seek professional help with the repair first.
If the plastic caps are on the ports, the blue cap is on the lowside port that is the port to fill from. If the caps are missing the lowside port is the bigger of the 2.

To add refrigerant to a Dodge Dakota find the suction hose of the A/C system. On the suction hose locate the port to add more refrigerant to the system.

The dipstick tube is where you add the transmission fluid. If you are putting it in the same tube, it has to be going into the pan. If you are adding it somewhere else well, there is your answer.

There is no gauge according to your owners manual. As such you would not know if it needed fluid so adding fluid would not be wise. Service is done by the Subaru dealer. Good to have one less maintenance item, isn't it?
