Drive belts are not adjusted on a BRP Outlander, or any of the Bombardier atv's for that matter. If your machine is creeping in gear and hard to shift from reverse to forward and back it is most likely the one way bearing(the engine braking mechanism on the primary clutch) that is dirty and needs to be cleaned and lubricated with isoflex grease,(grease skidoo uses to lubricate the outside pto and mag bearing on the 2 stroke crankshafts) Its expensive grease but it works very well.
on the neck of the frame.................
When pulling up hill the belt slips!
If the drive belt is squealing, then one of two things is wrong. Either the belt is loose or it is worn out. Adjust the belt tension or replace the belt.
drive belt slipping. adjust by taking up little slack or if worn replace belt and adjust tension correctly.
What do you mean by drive belt. If your talking about the serpentine belt, it should have an auto tensioner. Same goes for the timing belt. There is no adjustment. If the belt is loose then it needs to be replaced. ed724
No, the serpentine belt is used to drive more than one thing and tension is automatically adjust by way of a spring loaded idler pulley. Normally it will drive the alternator, power steering pump, & A/C compressor. A drive belt normally drives only one thing and tension is manually adjusted. A serpentine belt is wider that a drive belt and is not a V-Belt like a drive belt.
Need to tighten the belt on john Deere 1538
Your Explorer has a serpentine belt tensioner which keeps the proper tension on the serpentine belt unless the tensioner has failed.
The drive belt on a Cub Cadet LX1040 is adjusted by turning a small bolt on the side of the cutting deck. It loosens or tightens the belt depending on the direction it is turned.

If it is a serpentine belt, the tension is automatically adjusted by the tension idler. If the belt is loose then the tensioner needs replacing. If it is a normal drive belt, then the alternator is mounted on a slotted bracket that allows you to adjust the position of the alternator. You can loosen the bolts and adjust the tension on the belt.
you cant adjust a drive belt, you problem is in the secondary clutch, I am sure you need to replace the sliding clutch and put a spacer in front of the hub.
