you cant if you want it to run cooler youll have to buy a therm that opens at a lower temp. for example say you stock one is 200 and you want it to run cooler you need a 180 or 160 if it over heating it probablly needs a new one. have a nice day and good luck. oh and 160 200 etc that is the degree at which your cooling sytem opens up to cool your motor.
