Best Answer

The same way you back up any other single vehicle, except you don't have the benefit of rearview mirrors. If you're unsure of what's behind you, just just get out and look - anyone in the professional transportation industry knows this (although bus drivers often fall well short of the expectations of a professional driver).

One of the big things to be mindful of is that your turn radius is going to be based on the location of your wheels, not the rear end of the vehicle. Some people have problems when they use the rear end of the vehicle to gage their turns, and often end up hopping curbs or running into things.

Free Backing brakes have a unique design that moves the front brake shoe away from the brake drum when you are backing up. This allows the trailer to roll free when backing up, but this type of brake has no braking power while backing, therefore, your tow vehicle's brakes carry the entire load.
