How do you bleed your cooling system on your 2000 Lincoln ls?

First you have to make sure you do not have any leaks by doing a visual check for drips. No leaks? OK good. Remove the engine fill cap and the reserve coolant tank cap and the heater bleed thumb screw that is a tube right by the reserve coolant tank in most cases it is attached to is by a rubber strap. Have at least 2-3 gallons of premixed antifeeze/water handy. Fill engine fill as much as it will take and replace engine fill cap and do not trap any air in it please. Fill the antifreeze reserve tank to the hot mark and replace cap. The heater/engine bleed stays open until the air comes out and there is a steady stream of water/antifreeze coming out. Replace heater bleed screw. You may have to drive around one block and check the heated bleed screw some antifreeze/water may spew out then air then a steady stream again. You may have to bleed the car like this 3 or 4 times or as many as 7 times or more. Make sure when you have the heater bleed screw open you keep the antifreeze reserve tank at the hot fill ine at all times or you may have to do it again. Even after all this it is nearly impossible to remove all of the air from a Lincoln LS motor and you may have to bleed it as much as you can then drive it for a while to let it burp the remainder of the air from the motor.This car is notorious for air pockets in the system especially when changing the thermostat. This is the proper procedure to remove the biggest part of the air from the system. Its really simple and you may have to do this for more than one day. It may even help to bleed the system as much as you can 5 or 6 times driving it in between around one or two blocks then let it rest all night if it is still snapping air into the antifreeze reserve tank then while the car is very cool in the morning remove all the caps crank the car and do it once more and if all else has failed that should do it.Remember if it ain't broke don't fix it. It the thermostat in this car seems to have gone out please make sure to check the fan first then check the radiator for leaks and even try an engine flush from the auto parts store and follow the directions. Its not worth going to all this trouble if it wasn't the thermostat in the first place.Air pockets in this motor will always cause it to run hot and bubble and it may even make a snappy bubbling sound from theantifreeze reserve tank, if you hear that sound its air trapped in the motor for sure, that may be caused from a leak in the cooling system.
