Take the 2 wires on the relay off and run each into the interior of the car where a suitable switch can be installed. Take the 2 leads and hook them onto the switch. Make sure you have an inline 30 amp fuse installed.

Where is a cooling fan switch on a 2004 Chevrolet Impala Fans quit working but if you turn on the air conditioner the fans work so what else could it be?

In all probability it is the cooling fan switch. Before you replace it you need to check the fuses. The cooling fan switch is on the intake manifold.

Will the relay switch effect the cooling fans?

Yes. Most cooling fans are controlled by a relay because they take too much current to be wired directly.

How does the rad fan on a 1986 Honda Prelude come on?

There is a temperature switch on the passenger side bottom of the radiator that has a wire connector attached to it. The switch screws into the radiator and then the wires connect to that. That switch is what tells the relays to turn the cooling fan on. If your fans don't turn and the engine is running hot you can test the switch using the following steps. 1. turn the ignition to the on position but don't start the engine. 2. disconnect the wire connector to the switch on the bottom of the radiator. 3. using a small jumper wire, jump the two wires inside the connector. If the fans turn on then you will need to replace the temp switch. If the fans still don't turn on then you will need to check the fuses, relays, and the fans themselves.

Where is the sensor or switch that turns on the electric cooling fans on a 2003 Pontiac Montana located?

on the 2002 model, open the hood, and on the left side of the engine, there should be a black box, above and to the left of the radiator cap, remove the black box cover with your hands, and you should be able to access the engine fuse box. I think there are three (3) different relays in there that operate your cooling fans.

What is sending the command to turn on the cooling system from a motor on a Chevy venture 2000?

Hi, There are two relays that are controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that are responsible for controlling the cooling fans. The PCM will switch the relays on and off depending on certain conditions, such as engine temperature and whether or not the air conditioning compressor is turned on. I have included a link to a site that describes the way that the cooling system works on these vans, which goes into a good amount of detail. Good Luck, Greg
