You scream at the harness at the top of your lungs until the theft deterrent key bypasses. It will make a beeping noise when it is bypassed.

1988 firebird has a theft deterrent key how can you get around this you are installing it in a 1965 el camino using the 1988 factory ecm and wiring harness but not using original key?
1965 ElCamino's did not come from the factory with an ECM. If you have the switch out you may be able to cross the connection that is activated by the metal in the key. On those years the theft deterrent is a piece of metal set into the key that completes a connection inside the ignition switch. If you complete that connection permanantly before installing the switch you wont need the original key.
