How do you change a 1988 Celebrity 2.8L water pump?

To change the water pump on a Chevy Celebrity 2.8L water pump 1987 to 1990:

1. Using a suitable drain pan loosen the drain and allow the coolant to drain.

2. Remove the belt guard above the water pump pulley.

3. Release the tension on the serpentine belt and remove the belt. Take careful note of the routing of the serpentine belt for replacement purposes.

4. Hold the water pump pulley still and remove the bolts that hold it in place.

5. Remove the bolts that hold the water pump in place and remove the pump.

Clean the mounting surface so that a new gasket will seal.

Using a new gasket install the replacement pump

Reinstall the pulley and put the serpentine belt back in place' Put the belt guard back in place.

Refill the radiator with coolant, check for leaks..
