In order to change the serpentine belt for a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero, you must obtain a copy of the serpentine belt routing diagram from the manufacturer. Follow the routing diagram. Use a serpentine belt tool for loosening the tensioner. In order to position the belt, use a belt placement tool.

I have some serpentine beads (though they were sold just as "green/black beads" at walmart) and a serpentine tumbled stone... the beads stick to a rare earth magnet but the tumbled one does not. Maybe the serpentine that you have is like the beads from walmart... man-made with materials that are magnetic. I don't think real serpentine sticks.
There is no transmission dipstick. They have a sealed transaxle. You should never have to add or replace fluid.

None, all you have to do is stick a 1/2 ratchet or breaker bar in the tensioner pulley and pull the tension off of the belt enough to change the belt. Two sets of hands make this a fast and easy project.
