Partially drain the radiator into a container. Remove the upper hose at the engine end. Remove the 2 bolts that hold the thermostat housing and remove the thermostat. Clean both surfaces and install the thermostat, install the housing and the 2 retaining bolts. install the upper radiator hose and top off the coolant. It is located at the engine end of the top radiator hose in the thermostat housing.

my heater doesn't work in my 04 Chevy impala. My coolant levels are correct, and this still does not correct the problem. Could it possibly be the coil in the dash. If not what could problem be?

The thermostat is located on the drivers side of the engine kind of down behind the alternator. The thermostat is part of a housing and is purchased complete with a new rubber"O" ring. We have pictures and instructions at our enthusiasts website. www.trailvoy.com
The VSS speed sensor in an 04 Impala is located on the transmission case or the rear axle of the vehicle. However, on some Impala's it can be located inside the ABS system.
Your anti freeze collant level sensor if the same as a Chevy impala is mounted under the transmission cooling line on the radiator
