I have no idea what year or engine size you are working on. But it usually involves removing front accessories and timing chain cover. Remove motor mount bolts, jack up the engine. Remove starter and possibly exhaust. Remove oil pan bolts and drop it out. Could be skid plates in the way or other frame/engine components.
