take off the belt use a 1/2 inch drive. remove the bolt be careful it is spring loaded. and dothe reverse putting the new one back on.
I have a 3.1L and there is just 1 screw that holds the tensioner in place.
remove the belt. then in center of the tensioner is a bolt that goes into engine. remove this bolt. then tensioner should come off.
You probably have a bad serpentine belt and tensioner.
You can change the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner pulley. When the tensioner pulley is loose and the serpentine belt will become loose. Put the new serpentine belt on and tighten the tensioner pulley.
what engine??
you dont, the tensioner tightens the belt up.if belt sqeals get new belt or tensioner! on 3.1v6,
You have to unscrew the tensioner bolt and remove the serpentine belt first, then change the pulley and replace the belt. You have to unscrew the tensioner bolt and remove the serpentine belt first, then change the pulley and replace the belt.
Begin by loosening the tensioner pulley. Slide the tensioner pulley to the right and the belt will become loose. Remove the old belt and put the new belt on. Tighten the new belt by sliding the tensioner pulley to the left.
Remove surpentine belt, then take out bolt that goes through tensioner to engine.
There is no way to adjust the belt tensioner, if it's not keeping enough tension on the belt the complete tensioner itself will need replaced.
take the serpentine belt loose and there is 1 bolt holding the complete belt tensioner onto the engine, take the bolt out and it's off.
below the alternator. there is a diagram on the engine above the serpentine belt
