The 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix equipped with the 3800 Series II engine have easy to access and replace its distributorless ignition system (DIS) coil packs. The packs are the right-front (passenger) side of the vehicle and come off with simple tools. Make sure to use "heat sink compound" on the cleaned surface of the ignition control module (ICM) between and to the bottom of the coil packs. This will be to dissipate the ICMs heat as designed. Reinstall the DIS packs, and be sure to use "dielectric grease' on the correct parts of the plugs and ignition wires if replacing them out also.
