If it is a front flasher (a.k.a. signal lamp) there should be a way for it to pop out from the mounting bracket it is attached to. turn it either clockwise or counter clockwise and the signal should come right out. the light in the socket should be the same or you can pull it out. The rear signals require to removing of two screws; the entire casing for the light will come out. Then you treat it as a front signal and follow the same steps.

They just can't make these things easy, can they? What you can do is start the signal and follow the sound of the flasher in order to find it.
