How do you change the license plate light bulbs on a 96 Pathfinder Le?
you need to remove the inside panel to get to these bulbs
there are 2 license plate bulbs-look up above license plate,see 2 lens covers.remove with Philips screwdriver and pull bulbs out of sockets.i just did it t'nite but the lites still don't work.may be short or broken wire-perhaps where wires go thru liftgate opening...haven't checked yet. look for simple solution...bulbs 1st!

The bulbs are accessible under the trunk lid. They are behind the plastic parts shielding the bulbs. However, you could also do it my way. 1. Drive to the Mercedes Benz Dealership 2. Greet the friendly service manager 3. Ask them to change the bulb 4. Enjoy a cup of coffee and glossy magazine while you wait. 5. Pay the friendly service manager a modest amount 6. Drive off with new bulbs installed.
pop off the carpet trim from the trunk hatch. there are three 8mm or 10mm nuts that hold the upper license plate trim containing the bulbs. the center one also holds the trunk latch. remove these and pull the whole assembly out. the bulb holder twists out. replace with a 194 bulb. use LED 194 bulb for longer life and brighter light. you can also get different colored bulbs to customize @ www.superbrightleds.com
