FIRST CHECK YOUR FAN TO BE SURE IT WORKS, ONE EASY WAY IS TO DISCONNECT THE FAN AT IT'S CONNECTOR AND USE JUMPER WIRES TO CONNECT IT DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY, ANOTHER FASTER WAY IS TO RUN YOUR AC ON COLD, AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE RADIATOR COOLING FAN SHOULD KICK ON. THERE WAS A VEHICLE RECALL/SAFETY BULLITEN ABOUT THE WIRE HARNESS TO YOUR COOLING FAN SWITCH, THE WIRES ARE/WERE EXPOSED OUT SIDE OF WIRE PROTECTORS SUBJECTING THEM TO CHAFFING AND HOT SURFACES, CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOUR WIRING IS PROTECTED. I SIGNED UP ON ALLDATA.COM FOR MY CORSICA, IT COST $14.95 BUT WELL WORTH THE COST, EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE IS COVERED IN THERE ONLINE TECH MANUAL
1991 Corsica its under the trottle body
The engine temperature cooling switch helps regulate the engine's temperature. Teemed with the radiator and incoming air, this keeps the engine at its optimal performance temperature.
there's no switch, it has a temperature sensor.
When 1990 Honda is running cooling fan does not come on but comes on when engine is off and I thermostat and temperature switch changed?"
There is no temperature control switch for the cooling fans. The PCM Power control module receives input from the temperature sensor on the water outlet housing. The PCM turns on the fans when the temperature reaches 210 degrees through the CCRM.
It is not equipped with an inertia switch.
The cooling fan comes on when the engine reaches a certain temperature and is controlled by a sensor switch that kicks the fan on when the temperature reaches the preset temp.
It regulates the temperature of the water in the radiator and tells the fan when to switch on to start cooling or to switch off if its too cool. Engines have an optimum running temperature, and the Thermostat helps keep it at that.
If your 1988 Chevy Corsica key only turns in the ignition and does not start the automobile, it is probably unfixable. Remove the ignition switch retaining ring. Slide the out and remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
Defective cooling fan or thermal switch. (NEW ANSWER) First check and make sure you have enough coolant in the radiator....normally about two gallons...nothing less(when the radiator is empty).....if you check your coolant level and it is low....add coolant...not water!!!....if it still overheats when sitting, either your thermostat is not opening when at the set temperature....in which case you will have to replace the thermostat....or the cooling fan isn't comming on at the set temperature in which case you will have to replace either the fan switch or fan relay. If you suspect the cooling fan, replace the fan switch first and fan relay last. But if the corrisca is overheating and the cooling fan is comming...then you can rule out the cooling fan and look towards the thermostat being the problem.
The sensor on the thermostat housing is a cooling fan switch. Cooling fan switch closes the circuit to engage the cooling fan(s) when the optimum temperature is reached. When not replaced, cooling system fans will either remain continually "on" or not function causing the engine to overheat, internal engine damage and/or temperature light illumination.
take a wire and jump each switch
