lift the vehicle level, so readings are acurate. there is a plug on the rear of the differential. the fluid should be level with the plug. it is usually ok to see a small drip when you remove the plug but if nothing comes out, your low on fuid. consult your local dealer for correct fluid to add.
The oil pressure light comes on if the car is out of oil, or the oil pressure sending unit is malfunctioning. Check oil level, if oil is up to fill level then your oil pump is bad. DO NOT DRIVE the car. Have it towed to a Jaguar dealership or other reputable garage.
It's Just under 7litres. Google XK8 Oil Capacity for specific figures and the correct oil to use.

where is the starter located on a jaguar xk8?
Check the fuse panel on passengers side in the door well
Yes, the Jaguar XK8 does have a fuel pump.
Wait until it drains out the dipstick tube, return automible onto it's wheels and add oil. Its easier to change the oil if the Jag is not on its roof, but the oil filter is harder to reach.
There isn't one on a 98 XK8.
from what I hear ther is no dipstick there is a plug in the rear to add fluid and a level on the side to check the amount of fluid but ROM what I hear there is no diptick at the top like the rest of the cars supposedly this trans never needs servicing
