How do you check the transmission fluid on a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am?
GM eliminated dipsticks for automatics. You can only drain, and refill. There will be a little red/yellow cap near the top of the transmission by the firewall, where the dipstick used to be.
I have a 2000 Grand Am and is probably the same. There is a 7/16 plug on the transmission case you have to be under the car to see it. it is located on the backside near the right axel. You take it out and put in transmission fluid till it comes out the plug hole. The fill plug is accesed from engine compartment, you will need a long funel to fill. Must take it to…
That is incorrect. Yes, there is a red plug located on top of the transmission that is accesable from the engine bay, but no the car doesnt need to be lifted. It is a sealed transmission so there is no dipstick sao you will not be able to check your fluid level. ACTUALLY YES YOU CAN CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL BUT YOU HAVE TO GO UNDER THE CAR AND LOOK FOR A SMALL BOLT ON…
as far as i know you cant check the transmission fluid on a 2000 Pontiac sunfire. It uses dexcool automatic transmission fluid and very rarley needs to be changed, i have a manual shift and it never has to be changed. Actually the only way that you can change it is by having it flushed the same way you flush a radiator, it has to be sucked out by a machine.
Where is the transmission dip stick located and where do you put transmission fluid in on a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am 4-cylinder 4 dr?
Some Sunfires have a dipstick and some don't. At some point, Pontiac stopped including them. My '96 has one, (near the firewall, below the brake fluid reservoir) but it seems that newer models do not. You would have to check that fluid by locating a filler plug in the transmission. Generally, you would pull that plug, stick your finger in the hole and see if you feel/find fluid or not. If you do, Good! If…
The transmission fluid reservoir is inside the transmission on the bottom. The pan on the bottom of the transmission is the reservoir. You add fluid at the same place you check it. On some newer GM vehicles there is no place to check the fluid level. These transmissions are sealed for life. Please read your owner's manual.
How do you find out if I need more transmission fluid in my torque converter and transmission on 2002 Pontiac Grand Am?
1994 Pontiac transport when cold outside transmission wont shift when hot outside transmission runs just fine what could be the problem?
PONTIAC TOOK THE DIPSTICK OUT.(cost us more money)saves money for Pontiac drive train warrenty. You can't do it yourself.Get your oil changed at Jiffy lube or somewhere else and have them check it then. This is what I have been told by the pros.I KNOW IT'S NOT WHAT WE WANT TO HEAR.but it's true.Hope this helps.
