Is it off the car? I fso you could always pull the turbine side off and have it sandblasted and ceramic coated. If not, and for the compressor side, I wouldn't worry about hitting it with a little simple green or other safede greaser. You could clean the whole thing with that and a wire brush, Iwould use careful amounts of carb cleaner and a wire brush. As long as you don't use any chemical that might damage seals you are ok to go liberal with it..
