Since you did not give any details I will have to answer with some general suggestions.

1. standard caliper, use a C clamp to compress the caliper ( no need to bleed system )

2. If you do not have a C clamp, release the pressure by turning the bleed screw and push the caliper in. you will need to bleed the system if you do this.

3. certain vehicles need a special tool that turns the caliper in ( will have a slot in the piston ), they are pretty cheap and your local auto parts store will have them. When you get there get all over the parts counter person for not mentioning that you would need one.

How do you free up the emergency brake cables and rear brake calipers on 2001 Jetta?

Had the same problem, The rear caliper piston must be rotated while putting compression on it to get it to compress. There is an inexpensive tool available to do this rotation likely available from your auto parts ( or foreign auto parts ) store. Tool also offered on internet. Also the caliper may be shot and will not compress in which case you replace the caliper, which aside from having to bleed the brakes isn't a bad job

Why is the caliper not compressing on your 2001 tiburon even when you use the special tool?

Assuming this is the rear caliper you are having trouble with, the piston must be turned clockwise as you gently compress it. You basically have to screw it back in while applying pressure.

How do you compress the caliper on a 2002 suzuki XL7?

Usually you can take a block of wood and a C clamp and that usually works on any caliper, I have even taken the caliper completely off and used the handle of a hammer by putting the handle inside the caliper piston and applying downward force. However im having trouble compressing mine now.

How do you change rear pads on 2005 TDCI Mondeo?

You need a special tool to compress the piston back into the caliper. IF you have this simply unbolt the caliper, slide it off the brake disc, the pads slide out and the replacements slide in the same as the old ones came out, they'll only go in one way. However in order to refit you need the tool to compress the piston back into its start position. The piston 'screws' back into the caliper under pressure, the tool is essentially a threaded bar with a peg on end that locates in the groove/holes in the piston and a T on the other which goes against the caliper, you then wind the bar round and the pressure and screwing action winds the piston back in. The N/S piston has a reverse thread so needs to be wound the opposite way. With all the bits ready to go it can be done in an hour even without having done it before.

Is it possible to remove the real caliper on a 1987 Jaguar XJ6 without having to replace the rotor and how?

yes it is ,beleive it or not.......you'll need to bend up a 5/8's box end wrench and take your time,,its a pain in the butt,,though its possible.I've done dozens.....

When do you replace your epilator?

Many times, it is possible to use an epilator for 10 to 15 years without having to replace it. This will help you save money from having to buy disposable and electric razors.

How do you change the front brake pads on a 1991 Ford Tempo?

cliff notes: Jack up the car Wheels removed 2 bolts on the back of the caliper Slide caliper off the rotor being careful not to let it just hang remove brake pads put new ones in possibly having to compress pistons using a c clamp (inside of the caliper) to make room for the newer "thicker" brake pads clean EVERYTHING while you have it all open Turning the rotors at the same time is suggested and...reverse

How do you remove the front rotors from a Ford Windstar?

AnswerIf the same as on my '95 and '00 Windstars, remove wheel and tire, back out anchor cross bolts for caliper - suspend caliper with a wire hanger to prevent hose damage.Once caliper is off, remove the 3 or 4 small screws that hold the rotor to the wheel hub. Also hope there is no corrosion behind the rotor sticking it to the hub. Big hammer, heat & penetrating oil.My personal experience is that it is worthwhile to spend a few extra bucks to replace rotors with new aftermarket units as compared to having the old ones turned. They have to be very very accurately turned to prevent early recurrence of brake pulsation--beyond the scope of most local shops. The basics: remove the wheel* compress the piston back into the caliper* remove the 2 caliper retaining bolts* lift the caliper off and support with wire - hang it from the coil spring or similar* there are 4 or 5 set screws that you have to remove.* remove rotorT35. Doing one right now

Iam having problems replacing the front rotors and pads on a 96 riviera A walk through would be greatly appreciated thank you?

- Raise vehicle - Remove wheels - Open fliud resevior (for pressure relief) - Use large Apex (I believe 10mm) and remove 2 sliding pin bolts holding caliper on - Remove caliper ( you may have to use a large screwdriver to pry pad back into caliper) - Remove pads - Use suitable tool to return piston back into caliper - Install new pads and hang caliper out of the way with some wire. - Pull rotor off. Rotors are not bolted on the spindle. If tight use rubber mallet (it may be rusted on) - Replace rotor - Inspect and/or lube sliding pin bolts. If they are bad or dry then you will have poor braking and premature pad wear. About $10 to replace - Install caliper and bolt into place - Repeat - Install wheels - Replace resevior cap

Having problems with a sticky caliper on a 1996 Nissan sx?

Floating calipers can bind on the mounting hardware, causing them to wear one pad instead of both, usually you can clean up the caliper pins or replace them. rear calipers with emergency brakes can have cables seize, replacing cables is the only fix The caliper can stick if it is overextended, replacing the brake pads and checking to make sure the rotor is not worn too far may solve the problem. If the pads and rotor are not worn the caliper may need to be replaced.

Do you have to loosen the bleeder before you push the piston back?

In most cases, no, however if you are having issues getting the piston into the caliper, it may be seized, or it may be a turn in caliper.

Is the brake caliper on a ford focus threaded If not WHY do you need a special tool rather than two G clamps and a bar?

The bolts that hold them on are threaded, the pistons are NOT. If they won't compress, or are stuck, you need new calipers. New calipers are cheaper than having them rebuilt. Try Pep Boys, JC Whitney, AutoZone, etc.
