If your car is not a Flex Fuel vehicle it would be cost prohibitive to convert it just to burn that extra 5%. Ethanol is 85% regular gas and 15% Ethanol. Only a flex fuel vehicle should burn this mixture, as over time it will cause problems. You can however safely burn fuels enriched with up to 10 percent ethanol. completely false E85 is 85% ethanol 15% 87 octane gas (citing http://www.e85fuel.com the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, http://www.gm.com/explore/fuel_economy/e85/index.jsp?deep=what General Motors site on E85 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E85 wikipedia's article on E85

so you would be burning 75% more than the "normal" gas you put in your car (which contains 10% to 15% to reduce carbon monoxide emissions and increasing fuel efficiency by better oxidizing the fuel with its oxygen atom (C2H5OH) and making CO2. The hydrocarbons in normal gas are almost never completely oxidized where as ethanols combustion equation is C2H5OH + 3O2 = 3H2O + 2CO2 which requires less outside O2 and you get more power there for better millage. Oh yeah and ethanols cheaper so. So yes it is worth it. Most vehicles cant use ethanol because it is corrosive and destroys the fuel lines, seals, valves, other rubber parts that why we use it to clean things. You can buy a kit from http://www.change2e85.com/ or Google E85 conversion kit http://www.google.com/search?q=e85+conversion+kits . Oh and by the the way a kit will let you put methanol AKA racing fuel in your engine without melting your fuel lines. It will definitely cause other problems if you use 100% but if your engine has the right fuel compression it would be one awesome thrill ride until your engine gets fried. You may be able to use some mix of the three safely if you have some chemistry/ mechanical/ research/ skills. Or you could use a turbocharger, supercharger, or electric supercharger. Or you could by a smaller used car and not burn food that people could eat. But in my opinion get a lat model diesel jetta and run it on biodiesel, but ethanol is a good choice too since it is starting to be made from non edible plant material instead of corn. Sorry about the sporadic thoughts in my answer ADHD. rock on and good look looking out for the environment. hope this answered your question. With hope for the future, Gavdo
