You can determine which is number one cylinder by tracing the number one wire back to the cap. The number one plug is the first one in the front on a four cylinder and on a V6 it is the first plug on the drivers side.

being a 1990 it may have a distributorles ign, find one of the spark plugs,and follow one of the wires back to the end. if it goes to a small black box, then it is a distributorles. There is no distributor. It has coil packs located underneath the front exhaust manifold.

Take the distributor cap off and it will be bolted with 2 SMALL bolts to the distributor plate. It will have 2 electrical connectors pluged into it. Remove the rotor button and it will be easy to get to.
