Pull the fuse, if that doesn't affect your speedometer.
I had mine disconnected at the dealer, you don't even have to leave it there and you didn't need an appointment.
But if you want to do it yourself heres what he did. When you are looking at the engine on the Right (drivers) side the cruise control is a black thing(male) plugged into an orange (female)plug located right in front of the master cylinder (big black roundish thing) then he taped it each piece with electrical tape so that water wouldn't get in. Good Luck.
There was a safety recall from Ford on this item, it gets hot and could cause a fire so go to the dealer to have them replace the part for you.
Did you get the a RECALL notice ? Regarding the cruise control ... Ford put out a RECALL on the cruise control last year... I just had mines done on my 98 Ford Expedition XLT last week.
Located in the brake pedal assembly
you can pull the two wire connector on the front of the master cylinder. this will dsable the cruise control. there is also a recall (fire hazard) on that connector as well.
It means that the cruise control is activated. Kenneth
Try pushing the # 3 and the # 5 buttons at the same time to shut off the rear audio control
After some work on the vehicle such as replacement of the main vacuum system, when the cruise control is disabled during the work, it looses its communications with the main system. The only way to fix this is to have the programing uploaded to it by a ford dealer.

There is not a fuse for the cruise (or speed) control on a 2008 Ford F-250.
My 1994 ed xr8 was fitted with cruise control from the factory.
The fuse for cruise control for the 1999 Ford Taurus SE is located in the engine compartment. The main cruise control fuse is on the passenger side firewall. There are several fuses in this fuse box that control the cruise feature on the vehicle.
