There should be a SWITCH at the dome light! If not, remove the fuse from the fuse box above where your gas pedal is. OR: Simply remove the BULB from the dome light. duncanw.

Hey Dude: You can turn your dome light off in your van by turning your headlight switch (or dimmer switch ) all the way to the right. Left turns on your dome light, so go the opposite all the way till it clicks. It will now stay off when your door opens. .

The "dome" is the light on the ceiling of your car. It is called a dome because this light is usually shaped like a dome.
The dome light switch on the dash is on.
See if the button in the door jam is stuck and put WD-40 on it and work it in and out, and of course check the light bulb.
The dimmer switch has a setting which turns on the dome light. Just after turning it to high you should be able to 'click' it into the position required for the interrior lights. You can get to the hovercraft (hoverboard) in the mill attic. # Hang on the little rope to unlock the mill gears. # Go outside and climb on the windmill arms, turning them counter-clockwise # When the dome opens, go in and add manure to the hovercraft. (it will go to the mud)

Take the light out. You might have a bad switch in the door frame. When the door closes- it pushes a switch which I believe opens a circuit and shuts off your light. If the switch is bad it wont open the circuit and the light stays on.
The door jamb switch normally completes the power circuit to the dome lamp when the door is open. When the door is closed the switch opens the circuit, removing power from the dome light. If the switch is dirty, defective, stuck pushed in, or disconnected from the wiring, when the door is open the switch does not close the circuit and the dome light remains off as if the door is still closed. The headlight switch provides an "alternate path" to close the same circuit and allow power to the dome light. I had the same problem on a 1997 Chevy C1500 pickup truck.
Try turning the headlight switch left/right, assuming it's the pull on / push off style, it should control the dash panel intensity and the dome. -Jeremy89XJ
If you don't have an owners manual then I would think you would disable them using the light switch. Try pushing the dome light switch twice quickly, you should hear a bell chime. If you hear the chime, then the lights are disabled. Push the dome light twice quickly again, and that should reactivate the lights and you'll hear the chime again. If none of this works, depress the park brake pedal a couple of clicks down, that may work.
