Lock and unlock the doors with your key or use the key fob to do the same.

The bypass switch on a house alarm allows you to disengage the alarm sensors in certain zones of your home. For example, if you have sensors on your windows, but would like to leave your windows open while you are out, then you can bypass the windows so your alarm will not go off. Your alarm company should have let you know which zone numbers control what areas of your home.

If your alarm system beeps periodically, it may need a new battery. If you look inside the main control box you will find a 12 volt battery. If you switch this out with a new one your beeping problem should be solved.

I may be wrong but it sounds like your alarm is the problem. This happened to my brother's van(Astro). The built-in cutoff switch in his alarm was preventing the van from starting. It may be possible to disconnect the alarm system and try to start it. That's what my brother did and it worked.

There is a small switch inside the steering column lock mechanism. When that switch fails it can cause the door alarm to chime. The chime is supposed to inform you that the key is still in the lock, but when that switch fails it can certainly cause the problem you described.
