My 2008 Focus has a lifetime air filter installed and is not meant to be replaced. i just popped the one on my grandfather's 08 focus out no problem. follow the intake tube down in front of the driver's side headlight. 3 metal clips pop back, then you have to slide the whole top half (the bit the intake tube is connected to) back towards the cabin of the car. don't pry it, it will break. a bit of patience and it will pop right out. replacement filters start about $15usd (motorcraft) and go up to about $50usd (k&n).
