drain plug or take the whole transmission pan off and you can change the filter too and put new gasket on
On my 2000 automatic 4WD, I have to drop the pan to change it. It is designed as a sealed transmission and is not supposed to need changing all that often.

I had the same questions, I contacted Izuzu and it is not servicable by you and I. It has to be checked by the service center by raising the vehicle and removing the bolts as in replacing the transmission fluid. This was on the 97-99's. They have gone back to dipsticks but unfortunately we are stuck with the service center. YES you can do it!! Be careful not to overfill but do as follows to check the fluid. As you don

we have a 1998 rodeo and i could not find the dip stick for tranny then i went on-line and found out that these models have a sealed transmission therefore you can not check them for fluid level.
Transmission fluid level: As you don’t have an ATF dipstick, you will have two plugs facing downward on the larger trans pan. The plug higher up on the pan is the fill/level check (stamped/recessed into the rear right corner of pan). ATF should just dribble from this plug on a hot, idling truck, in neutral on a level surface. The lower one is the drain. The one at the back of the pan in a recess is the filler. You need a hand pump or something similar to fill it to overflowing then top it off with the engine running. Make sure you shift through the gears a couple of times when topping off.
