The only way to do it is to take the transmission pan off. Loosen all the bolts on the back of the pan leaving the front bolts tightened. This will allow the fluid to mostly drain out of the pan then it will be a lot easier to remove, and it won't be as heavy.
TIP: Get a drain plug from your local auto parts store, and drill a hole on the rear side of the pan, install the plug and it will make future drains much easier. There is one caveat, the whole purpose of changing the tranny fluid is to change the tranny filter as well. It defeats the purpose of putting new fluid in if you still have an old filter. Arguably its better to atleast change the fluid, but it really doesn't do much good. You should also clean off the magnet at the bottom of the transmission pan (it will look like a square of grease). It collects all the metal shavings that come off the gears over the years. Just putting that back up, with new oil and leaving the metal isn't any good either.

how to drai torque converter on 1999 chevy blazer
Will a 1997 blazer what work on a 1999 blazer????? If your talking engine, transmission, or running gear than yes. It is all the same.
NO. Not even close. Chevy redesigned ALL the TRANSMISSIONS and ENGINES in late 1999. Anything above 1999 WILL NOT FIT anything under 1999.
No it will not even get close. Chevy REDESIGNED the engines and transmission in late 1999.
Yes
its on the left hand side of the radiator but not very easy to get to My apology, it is a 1996 S10 Chevy Blazer instead of a 1999 Chevy Blazer. I need to see a picture or more detail of where the drain plug is located on the left side of the radiator. I have searched and searched and cannot find anything to drain with. Thanks, Linel
There are several seals in that transmission, need to know which one.
NO... It is not even close. Nothing under 1999 will work. Chevy REDESIGNED the engines and transmissions in late 1999.
You will have to take off the big silver pan that is on the bottom of the transmission to drain the fluid and service the trans. filter.
On the driver's side of the transmission (range select cable is attached to it).
Oil? bottom of the oil pan Transmission? bottom of the transmission case.
